Elements Naturals Compostable Baby Wipes Review & Giveaway

Did you know that 39 BILLION baby wipes enter U.S. landfills every year? I did some research and also found out that it takes a few HUNDRED years for those wipes to decompose! As a wipe user, that info shocked me. If you want to make less of an impact on the environment and still be able to use a disposable wipe, you'll be please to learn about this product.

Elements Naturals Baby Wipes are the FIRST 100% natural and compostable baby wipes made only from bio-based materials and ingredients from plants. You can actually watch them decompose if you have a compost pile in your yard (wet ones only). If you do have to throw them away, you can rest easy knowing that they won't be piling up for many years to come in the landfill. Did you know traditional wipes are made with plastic based materials, and latex resins? Even the cotton ones have only 15% of cotton in them. Since Elements Naturals are made of bio-based materials, everything used to create these wipes come from renewable resources.

These wipes are also better for baby. They are free from of any chemicals or fragrance. The worst thing you can do is use a chemical laden baby wipe on a baby's super sensitive skin, especially if they have diaper rash....OUCH! Some wipes actually contain alcohol based "cleansers". Check out this ingredient comparison:

Elements Naturals can be bought in select stores nationwide, or online at various retailers such as Diapers.com. You will see that they are comparable in price to any other baby wipe. Check out their website for information including production process, testimonials, and lots more.

My Opinion

First I want to say that I have only used one brand of wipes since my baby's been born, Pampers. So I will be comparing Elements Naturals wipes with that brand.

I received these wipes just as my son started on solid foods, so there couldn't have been a better time to test these wipes! The first thing I noticed was that the Elements Naturals were a lot thinner compared to the Pampers. This made me a little nervous since I was now dealing with "real" poop instead of the loose watery kind my son's been having for 6 months. Even though they are thinner, they still did the job well and my fingers didn't poke through. It does take about two wipes to get the job done though, rather than one of Pampers.

The second thing I noticed was the smell. I thought they smelled a little odd, but I'm sure that's due to the fact that I've only ever used scented wipes, cucumber and green tea specifically. Don't get me wrong, it's nothing like a bad smell...how can it be, these wipes are unscented!

The Elements Naturals were also a little bit drier compared to my other wipes, but again, this did not affect their wiping ability at all. In fact, it may have been better since the poo stuck to the wipe better since it wasn't so saturated.

These wipes do come in a resealable package. I actually didn't use the package. I had just finished my Pampers wipes so I put them in that container with a pop-up lid function. I can tell you, DO NOT put these wipes in another tub. They won't pull out one by one as I'm sure they do if kept in their package. It's not a big deal though. The wipes easily separate from each other.

Since the wipes are all-natural, they are totally safe to use to wipe baby down. They come in handy since my son is a new eater! They work great at cleaning his hands and face.

With all that being said, I would recommend these wipes. There were a lot of differences compared to the Pampers wipes, but none of them would prevent me from purchasing Elements Naturals. They cost about the same, but have lots more benefits...for the environment AND my son!
